Splash guards and inside corners

An inside corner, where two walls meet and the roof forms a valley above them, is the single most demanding point on most gutter systems. Water from two roof planes converges there and arrives with speed. Without something to interrupt it, a good proportion shoots straight across the trough and over the far side, which is why the ground below an inside corner is so often the wettest spot around a house even when the gutters are clean and correctly sized. A splash guard is a simple piece of bent aluminum fixed inside the gutter at that point, standing proud of the outer edge, which catches the incoming flow and drops it into the trough. They cost very little and are routinely omitted. The other half of the answer is an outlet placed close to the corner so that the water arriving there has somewhere immediate to go rather than having to travel the length of a run first. If you have one persistent wet spot at a corner of the house and everything else behaves, this is almost certainly what you are looking at, and it is an inexpensive fix rather than a replacement.
