Getting the site ready before the crew arrives

There is a short list of things that make an installation day go smoothly, and none of them take long. Move vehicles away from the elevations being worked on, since ladders need footing close to the wall and formed gutter runs are long and awkward to carry. Clear furniture, planters and anything fragile from directly under the eaves. Cut back shrubs that press against the wall where a ladder needs to stand, which is the single most common cause of a crew having to work around something. Unlock gates and confine pets, particularly during removal when there is metal and old fastener debris on the ground. If any part of the work is over a deck or a patio, mention it in advance rather than on the day. Expect noise and expect debris, since removal generates both, and expect a magnet sweep or equivalent afterward for fasteners in the grass. Finally, if you are going to be home, be around at the start rather than the end. Anything found once the old gutter comes off is best discussed before the new system is hung, not after.
